James David Brooks

It is with great sadness that the family of James David “Jim” Brooks announces his passing on on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at the age of 79 years. He will be forever remembered and is survived by his wife, Meda Brooks, daughters Paige Brooks and KC Rudolph (Jonathan), sons Clayton Boyette (Melissa) and Lee Wallace (Melissa), grandchildren CJ and Isabella Boyette, other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Christine and BJ Brooks and sisters, Geraldine Kelley and Louise Woodfin.

A native of Phenix City, Alabama, he graduated from the University of Alabama Law School in 1964. He relocated to Mobile, Alabama where he led a successful career as an attorney for 54 years and served on the Board of Directors for The SSI Group for 30 years. He went above and beyond for his clients and many became great friends. Despite his successful career, he considered one of his greatest accomplishments to be when he was chosen as the All Bi-City “Athlete of the Year” in 1957 when he excelled in baseball, basketball, and football. He had a passion for helping others, loved Alabama football, and was the master of storytelling. His life stories will live on forever.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home beginning at 12:00 p.m. with Dr. Larry Thompson officiating. The family will begin receiving friends at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilefuneralservice.com. I have been a close friend with James David for 45 years and I will miss seeing and talking to him greatly. We didn't always agree but we always listened to the others point of view, and we always seemed to come to an agreement. We never owed one another an apology and never had an argument. He was one of the kindness and most giving people that I have ever known. His funeral was beautiful and the preacher, who also knew him well, was amazing. I know that the only way I will see him again is if I am lucky enough to make the cut for heaven.

Oh Meda! We don't have the words to express our heartfelt sorrow. We know the family has been and will continue to be a great comfort and support to you. We hope to see you soon and express our regret in person. Mom called to tell me about Jim and she told me that Jim was one of her all-time favorite people and that she enjoyed so much spending time with him. Please take care of you! We'll continue to remember you and yours in our prayers - Love Cheryl and Chuck
